Maybelline Plum Shimmer Blush: Review & Swatches

The next item that caught my eye in the Maybelline Gilded in Gold collection is the Plum Shimmer Blush. This is one of three available in the collection. There is a pinker color (Pink Weave), and a tan color (Bronze Tapestry), neither of which where truly eye catching. I wanted a good fall/winter blush and what better than plum for that job?

There is a tweed style pattern embossed into the blush. I think it's supposed to harken back to the Chanel tweed blush from awhile back. As much as I would love fancy blush, it's way out of my financial means at the moment. All that to say, I can't compare the two.

Plum Shimmer is a plummy pink color with silver shimmer veining. I can't quite tell if it's an over-spray or not. I want to say it's veined throughout the actual blush (if it's not, I'll update this post). It's not overly shimmery despite the silver particles. It doesn't emphasize my pores, just gives a nice glow to the cheeks. It's kinda become my most reached for blush recently. It's handy and pretty at the same time. It gives a natural rosy glow of cold weather.

Swatches

Hand swatch below without primer. Thick swatch on the left, and blended out swatch on the right. As you can see the shimmer isn't overpowering, just a nice hint of shimmer.

Bottom Line: Can't say anything about the other two blushes in the collection, but Plum Shimmer is a great fall/cool weather color to give your face a much needed flushing glow in the colder months. You should go get it before it's sold out!
