Updated Elf Winter 6 Piece Eyeshadow Set: Review & Swatches

If you've found yourself wondering the aisles of your local Walgreens recently, you've probably spied a ginormous display of Elf Cosmetic winter goodies. It ranges from a few item sets, to bazillion. Most are rather scary, and unapproachable, but this 6 Piece Eyeshadow Set seem to fit the bill. Especially at $3 a pop, and my recent good luck with the Halloween collection I figured why not?

This time around there is a double-ended sponge-tipped applicator that is part of the kit. A nice addition if you don't have brushes, and something that probably would work in a pinch. This "palette" contains 6 varying shades of neutral golds to browns. None of which are matte. Some are along the "hint of pearl" spectrum of the shade, making it possible to wear an entire eye look without looking like a disco ball.

There are no shade names, but these are my descriptions:

  • Mid-tone brown shimmer with a hint of rose undertones
  • Peachy shimmer
  • Cool taupe shimmer
  • Chocolate brown pearl
  • White gold shimmer
  • Golden silver chunky/flakey pearl

Most of the shades apply well, especially if you use a primer underneath. The only shade I had major issues with is the more golden middle shade. It's a little chunky and odd textured (but still pretty). These are slightly powdery, but really for the price it's not bad at all.

Swatches

Hand swatches. No primer underneath! Sorry the two swatches are in a different order. I clearly took the pics on different days, and couldn't remember the order.

Quick eye look. I kinda slapped this together, and really nothing to write home about, but the colors do apply well.

Bottom Line: For $3, most of these shades are great. You can't go wrong if you're looking for a neutral palette with some extra sparkle to be ready for the Holidays.
