Revlon Sparkle Aplenty (Ritzy) Nail Polish: Review & Swatches

Revlon is one of the drug store brand of polishes (besides L'Oreal) that I think has really stepped up their game in terms of quality and unique shades.  Sparkle Aplenty happens to be one of their glitter polishes that  is meant to be a dupe of a high end brand nail polish (OPI Metallic 4 Life). I know some find it an affront that companies are "ripping off" others for a profit, but I say so what? All forms of marketing or similar products follow each other's lead, and if something works, why not find a cheaper alternative? On that note, these Revlon polishes run around $4-5. One more thing to keep in mind is that this polish might be called Ritzy now.  I don't know why they changed names. Something to do with the transition from a limited edition to permanent? No clue.

As you can see in the macro picture, Sparkle Aplenty has silver and black hexagonal glitter with smaller silver glitter in a sheer black base. I actually didn't realize it had black hexagonal glitter until I applied it, and was pleasantly surprised. For a polish that is so full of glitter, it applied smoothly and the glitter laid down evenly.  I didn't have any issues with glitter pieces getting caught on clothing. The clear black base is a nice touch as well, to give it more dimension while allowing the glitter particles to show up. I was also surprised how long the polish lasted on my nails (5-6 days) with very minor tip wear.  It lasted longer than the average polish on me.  Of course as glitter polish goes, it is a pain to get off your nails when you're ready for a change.  Otherwise it's a great polish.

Swatches

The following swatches are 2 layers of Sparkle Aplenty. As you can see, the sheer black base doesn't fully build up to opaque on it's own, so feel free to layer over another nail polish.  Of course that may decrease the visibility of the black hexagon glitters, especially since they are hard to see as is.

Bottom Line: I say go get this.  It's a fun, snazzy shade that applies nicely.  The only down side is that it's a pain to get off (as is the case with all glitter nail polish).
