Colored mascaras are all the rage for fall (each year, the 1980s, etc), and Rimmel is on board as well with their Extra Pop Lash mascara. They have 3 "fun" colors and a traditional black in the collection, but I was only interested in Turquoise Pop. Since Rimmel is generally one of the more affordable drug store option of cosmetics, I wanted to try it out.

As you can see from the display above that the other two colors are a green and purple. The only other Rimmel mascara I've tried is the Lash Accelerator Endless mascara, which I truly like, so I was hoping for a repeat performance.
The Extra Pop Lash comes in a traditional bristle brush that is relatively closely spiraled together and slightly tapers towards the tip. The wand is neither here nor there, but I must say the formula was disappointing. It takes a lot of effort to build up the mascara to show a visible color, then it tends to get clumpy and heavy. Like creepy tarantula legs. Even then the color isn't as vibrant as you would want. It doesn't do much for my lashes either. It doesn't build them, nor lengthen them. There's no "extra pop". The only pro about it is that it stays on the lashes and doesn't smudge throughout the day.
Swatches
The following swatches are of an enumerable amount of coats of Extra Pop Lash. As you can see, after many coats the color is noticeable, but very faint. To get it to the point of showing color, the lashes get clumpy.
Bottom Line: If you're only worried about color, then go for Pop Turquiose since it can be built up to a a somewhat visible color. However, if formulation of the mascara itself is also important, I suggest you look for other colored mascara options.
