Maybelline Eyestudio Quad in Desert Fantasy: Review & Swatch

More fun fall items on the horizon! A little eyeshadow love with the On the Runway (Mercedes Benz Fashion Week) collection by Maybelline. There are a few limited edition Eyestudio quads, lipsticks, gloss, and nail polish in the collection. The only thing that I was interested in is the Desert Fantasy Eyestudio quad, which is kinda funny considering I've never even bought one of these before.

You might see this in a shmancy display like the above pic (which clearly has been picked over), but I've seen smaller displays. Most of the items are limited edition, so if you're interested, you better get on it quick. Desert Fantasy is a great quad for fall with a khaki green and navy. All shadows are richly pigmented, and the best part is that you can create a full eye look with just one palette. There's even a matte shade so you don't have to worry about not having a "toning down" shade. Also it's a nice mixture of generally warm shades with a cool shade thrown in.

The 3 shimmer (not glittery) shades are a champagne, yellow gold, and khaki/forest green with a lighter green/gold shimmer. The single matte shade is a very dark navy that's almost charcoal grey.

Swatches

Hand swatches are on the bare skin, no primer underneath! As you can see, the matte shade needs a little more work for even application, but with a primer, the patchiness disappears and blends out nicely.

Quick eye look using all shades in the quad. Gold in the inner corner, green on the lid and outer third of lower lash, blue in the crease, and champagne to blend out the blue and along my bottom lashes.

Bottom Line: I can't speak for the other limited edition quads, but this one is a must for fall!
