As seems the yearly trend from Maybelline is the multi-colored limited edition Great Lash Mascaras. This year has 6 shade offerings, two more than last year. Although different names then last year, there seems to be a repeat of a green, purple, turquoise, and bright blue. This year's addition is a maroon, and Wink of Pink that I have to review today.

The Great Lash formula is one with a cult following, but also one you either like or hate. I agree with the nay sayers that it's not the most volumizing or thickening mascara. It also has a hard time holding a curl as the day wears on, but will last for several hours. That being said, it's not the worst mascara either. It does give more of a "natural" lash look that can be built up for some thickness. The wand is made with a "regular" bristle that is widely spaced (which may account for the lack of volume). It's a smaller brush in size as well, which I do like.
In terms of color, Wink of Pink is not as bright as I assumed (and hoped) it would be based on the packaging. The color is a lighter mid-toned pink (vs. a hot pink). The color shows up nicely on the lashes, so I can forgive it for being a different color than expected ;) Just as an FYI, there is a permanent shade of Royal Blue available that's a great color to have year round.
Swatches
The following is the Maybelline Great Lash in Wink of Pink alone (top and bottom lashes). No primer underneath. I have naturally dark lashes, but despite that, the pink color shows up. I did notice as the day went on that the pink intensity died down slightly, but still noticeable. Also added is the full eye look with pink mascara, showing you that even odd colors can be worn in a wearable look. I just counteracted the pink on the top lashes with black on the lower lashes. Also adding a darker liner (I used dark brown), helps bring the look together, and make it more wearable.
Bottom Line: I think it's a fun mascara to have in your stash. Is it particularly a useful mascara? Of course not. But we all need some pizzazz in our lives.
