Like I did with the Revlon Lip Butter post, I'm reviewing a limited edition Maybelline Color Whisper prior to the originals. Once again, since this is a time sensitive product, I wanted to review it for you before it leaves the stores. This color is in Ravishing Pink, and I found it on an end cap display in Walgreens during a BOGO half sale (end cap display picture after the jump). There are four colors total in this summer limited edition collection, and Ravishing Pink is one of the lighter shades available.

Ravishing Pink is a muted mauvey pink. One of the best features of this product line as a whole is it's versatility. You can have a sheer, barely there hint of color, or build it up to a more intense semi-sheer color. The darker colors have more of an obvious gradation. Obviously these will never be opaque, nor are they marketed as such.
These are on the more hydrating spectrum of lip products, but before first application I still prefer putting down a layer of balm. In comparison to Revlon Lip Butters, the Color Whispers have a more slippery feel. I think the slipperiness helps prevent it from getting too cakey, even with lighter colors. I never have problems with feathering, which is another big bonus. The number of shades available are slightly less than what Revlon offers, but then again these were launched just this year. As a whole, I like this formulation slightly butter than the Lip Butters.
Swatches
Below is a denser swatch of Ravishing Pink. This is a sheer color if just applied, and you wouldn't see the swatch. As mentioned earlier, this is a mauvey pink. It tones down my darker lip color, and makes it a very wearable "nude" everyday use type of shade.
Since it's a sheer shade, you can see some of my lip freckles peaking through, but as a whole, it does do a good job making them less obvious.
Bottom Line: Love these Maybelline Color Whispers, and this limited edition shade in Ravishing Pink is no exception. If you can't find this shade in the stores, you can always look at the permanent line for some lovely color options.
