Stocking Stuffer Idea: China Glaze Holiday Charms

I thought this little number was a great deal for a stocking stuffer or present for your holiday of choice.  It comes with 4 "mini" China Glaze Holiday edition nail polish for $8.99.  And these "mini's" are really good sizes to boot.  They contain 0.325 oz compared to a full size that has 0.5 oz.  It's like getting 3.5 full size nail polishes for the price of 1.5.  Ok that's too many numbers.  What I'm saying is that it's a great deal, especially since most people won't use an entire bottle of nail polish so it gets wasted.  With this set you can enjoy a variety without being too wasteful.

I haven't had a chance to swatch these, but since time is of the essence, I'll give you a quick overview of the colors and some macro shots of the glitters to get a better idea.  Soon I'll get around to doing swatches.

First off is Merry Berry a darkened cool toned red leaning slightly maroon. Red Satin is a blue toned holiday red.  It makes me think of holly berries.  It's darker than what it shows up in the pictures (not a fire engine red as it appears).  These first two are cream finishes.  The next two are the glitters.  First is Winter Holly.  It's a sheer green based glitter polish with green, antique gold, and holographic glitter.  The name fits it perfectly.  The second is Glitter all the Way.  This is a festive glitter in a clear base.  It has gold, purple, and green glitter.  Mardi Gras colors.  It's fun and sparkly without being stuck in holiday mode.  It's a glitter that can be worn year round.

I can't tell you how any of these particular nail polishes wear as of yet (as I add the swatches, individual wear reviews will be included there).  However, from past experience with China Glaze cream polishes, they go on very smoothly and evenly in a couple coats.  I haven't tried any glitters by China Glaze, so no thoughts on that.

Red Satin is a nice darker, blue-toned red.  I often have issues wearing red since it makes my fingers look weird (the color isn't flattering), but I felt that this red was wearable.  The formula was the perfect China Glaze cream.  It went on smoothly without brush stroke marks, and it lasted longer than most polishes do on me.  Swatches are 2 coats.

Next is Merry Berry, a red berry color with a blue base (excuse the painting quality, I was in a rush).  This is a cooler, slightly darker version of Red Satin.  It's a cream that generally works well, but not as nicely as Red Satin. I don't know the reason for that, but oh well.  Swatches are 2 coats.

Winter Holly is a glitter in a clear base.  It contains a darker green, lighter green, gold, and holographic glitter.  The holographic glitter appears red at times.  In the swatches, there are 2 coats by itself on my index finger, and one coat over parts of the rest of the fingers over 2 coats of Holly Berry. The color of the sunlight swatch is more accurate (again this swatch is over the former swatch, so it's still bad).

Bottom Line:  The price is right and China Glaze has performed well for me in the past.  Why not have some holiday fun?
